To my knowledge there are no class action lawsuits against Sallie Mae. From what I've read, most people have stated individual complaints with their local Better Business Bureau. From further research I have discovered that the BBBs have found in favor of Sallie Mae or the decisions rendered were less than favorable for the complaintant. I would absolutely love to file a class action law suit against Sallie Mae, however it appears as though there practices are within the confines of the law. Unfortunately the government has been very close-minded when it comes to Student loan reforms.

I have been doing research regarding a class action lawsuit against Sallie Mae for deceptive and misleading practices regarding my student loan.
I have found that several states have filed class action lawsuits against Sallie Mae. Just do your research on this and contact some lawyers.
I applied to this college when I lived in Orlando, Florida. I was accepted based on my entry level exam
After moving to another state and trying to further my education, I just recently found out that my (2) two years of schooling
were wasted.I was not allowed to graduate in my last term of college because I was not allowed to repeat anymore classes on financial aid.
I was unaware and lied to, that the school I was attending was not accredited nor were my credits transferable.
I was lied to about the actual circumstances that were told to me to continue my education regarding my student loan through Sallie Mae.
Here it is, (8) eight years later and I'am just finding out about this.
I was never able to make anything of my criminal justice career and no school will even consider accepting me with a $ 29,000. student loan riding on my back!
When I was attending school, I never recieved the extra help that I had requested as I have a learning disability. :(
I was never told anything regarding the numerous student loans that I had to continue "ïn order to graduate" :?:
I'am completely outraged by this and I feel like such an idiot for being so gullible.
I still can not believe that I'am a victim of this as I try to be so very careful and catious so that I do not become manipulated and conned. :o
When I came across this page on accident, I felt a sence of relief as I seen that I was not the only person who has been manipulated
and decieved by this company regarding student loans and deceptive practices.
Where is the justice in all this? How do we go about getting our rights restored after being taken advantage of the way we have been?
What happens to our credit report after this?
Are we just sappose to sit back and hope that everything works out for the best?
I really felt like a real failure before I found this page, now I think that we should all contact each other and start our own class action lawsuit !!!!
We are all victims of Sallie Mae!!!

I am for it. The college that I attended provided all loan information. I didnt recieve the permissionary not until after loans were already disbursed...if I new then what I know about sallie mae I would have delt paying for it another way. They lie, I was in a forberance which Sallie mae changed terms of the forbereance and it became due for the year was up. Then when I contacted them to apply for another forberance they said in order for me to apply for another I had to pay off the late, and fees accumulated during this time plus another $50 fee to file the forberance. I said that I didnt have the money becasue I was unemployed and they told me to writed a post dated check and I would be ok.

I thought that the BBB was supposed to take care of people but they help with nothing. I do not think anyone that is supposed to be of help to the consumer can help...they dont care.

here is the clicker about my case....I offered SALLIE MAE...my loan back as if I had never recieved anything from them...the amount of the loan less what payments that I was able to make...THE DENIED my payment.

Justice

show me the paper work and I will file.

Personal sob stories aren't going to lead to defeating sallie mae. We will have to show a consistent track record of sallie mae being deceptive and using their mistakes to gain money. Over the years of paying sallie mae the monkeys that they have processing payments mess up about 90% of the time which works to their favor. Sallie mae bought one of my student loans which left me with the pleasure of having 2 payments due to sallie mae per month. When I sent the coupons in separate envelopes with separate checks the salliemonkeys would apply both checks to one loan. (now it wasn't actually one loan but a few loans that they group together, something they use to confuse matters) If you want them to fix thet problem, good luck! They are trained to not fix their mistakes but just to try and collect money. If your account is behind they claim that you can't speak to customer service to try and straighten out the account. They also use Student Assistance Corp as another means to harass and try to collect but they won't answer any questions or help with your account problems. They claim to be a separate entity but with a bit of research you can see that they are part of sallie mae. Now the real angle to hit them at is with their tendency to put loans on forbearance with or without the borrower's approval. This racks up the interest charges and increases their profit. They are inclined to make mistakes and not fix them and then just charge more interest instead of addressing the problems. A disgruntled employee revealed this to the legal system a few years back.
WIKIPEDIA: Sallie Mae -On November 9, 2005, former Sallie Mae employee Michael Zahara filed a federal lawsuit against the company, alleging that it had a pattern and practice of granting forbearance in a purposeful effort to increase total student loan debt. That lawsuit is still ongoing.[7]

They are even getting rewarded for their incompetence.
Corporate Responsibility Officer has named Sallie Mae one of America's "100 Best Corporate Citizens" five times. Corporations (over 1,100 are evaluated) are selected according to community, governance, diversity, and environmental best business practices.
Diversity means they hire unemployable people and put them in charge of processing payments and customer service.
Sallie Mae sponsors The Sallie Mae Fund, a charitable organization with a mission to increase access to higher education for America's students by supporting and starting programs and initiatives that help open doors to higher education. The Sallie Mae Fund prepares families and students for college and provides scholarship funding that focuses on minority, low-income, and "first in the family" students.
So SLM also practices racism in providing college help, how interesting for a government-backed company. I guess if they go to college and can't pay back the loan, sallie mae can always hire them to work in their payment processing department and take their whole check for paying back their sallie mae loans, a form of modern day slavery.

the good news is, they have offices everywhere.

Register and File a Class Action Lawsuit against Sallie Mae

Postby SallieMaeBigBully on Fri Mar 06, 2009 5:18 am

Please register and file a class action lawsuit against the greedy practices of Sallie Mae.

http://www.jameshoyer.com/problem_Sallie_Mae.html

Did you know during the Bush Era, Sallie Mae lobbists were working and befriending the government officials in exchange of lack of oversight so Sallie Mae can profit?
We have all voted for the wrong person to be President of USA. Never will I trust nor vote for another Republican politician again.

I want both the government and media to investigate on the illegal collective practices of Sallie Mae. And to do that, we all need the TV stations, the media, all the state's Attorney General to open their eyes and be aware of Sallie Mae hiding behind the focus of other banks' foreclosures.
At present, both the government and the media are so focus on foreclosures and health care, that they are letting Sallie Mae's illegal collective practices slide / hide unnoticed.

Blogging, venting on the internet is not enough.

We need to write to Congress, the Obama Administration for change. Real change.

We all need to share our stories to that lawfirm above.

And from now on, we all must plug in our phone and record all conversations concerning Sallie Mae and document everything.

I would be happy if the government NATIONALIZE Sallie Mae instead of Bank of America. I would be happy if Sallie Mae broke the company
in pieces and then cease to exist.

So if you really hate Sallie Mae as much as I do. We all need to get together and file a Class Action Lawsuit against that company.

I have also registered with http://www.fbi.gov

The government has been suing, shutting down Tax preparation companies, health insurance companies for fraud.
I believe Sallie Mae can and should be one of them if there are so many people complain about the same company.

Please contact the Attorney General Eric Holder and you state's Attorney General through

http://www.fbi.gov

and register and tell your story to:

Thank you.

I have recently contacted The FSA Ombudsman regarding SallieMae. I intend to copy my state representatives as well as the Whitehouse. SallieMae does what SallieMae wants to do and there's not a damn thing that the Student can do about it. I've been going round & round with SallieMae and the credit bureaus for 4 years. I shouldn't have to hire a lawyer. I should be able to escalate the matter to somebody who can do something about it and not have to pay $ to do so. What the heck happened to checks and balances? It doesn't exist where SallieMae & credit bureaus are concerned!
